Dr Pieter Louw was born in Somerset East and is the youngest brother of three. He grew up on a farm near Somerset East where his parents are still living.

Dr Louw matriculated at Gill College in Somerset and then went on to study medicine at the University of the Free State.

He completed his two-year internship at the PE Hospital Complex and his community service year at Humansdorp Hospital.

As a family practitioner, Dr Louw enjoys all aspects of medicine with a special interest in dermatology, surgical conditions, and internal medicine, especially metabolic diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, and hyperlipidaemia.
